In 2012, the Pennridge FISH Organization learned that it would need to find a new home. The warehouse on 5
th Street, generously on loan to them from Perkasie Borough, was to be sold. At the time, the organization launched a fundraising pledge drive to help pay for a building that would become a permanent home for the food pantry and clothing outlet. In August 2013, Pennridge FISH moved from its former home to a large, modern building at 800 West Chestnut Street in Perkasie.
With an original building fund goal of $325,000, FISH accepted pledges from 171 individuals and businesses in the community, with some being paid over the course of several years. In February 2017 Pennridge FISH received its final pledge payment of $5,000, thus successfully completing its building fund drive and exceeding its goal. The total donations received totaled $331,606. This generosity enabled Pennridge FISH to purchase the building outright and repave the parking lot.
Pennridge FISH would like to extend its gratitude to the community for its generous, faithful support. With no mortgage to pay, we are able to utilize most donated funds to assist those in need in the Pennridge Community.
FISH currently serves more than 650 economically challenged families in the Pennridge School District with food, clothing, and one-time emergency financial assistance for necessary utility bills. Registered clients may use the pantry once a week and the clothing room one time per month. FISH is staffed by more than 160 volunteers and one part-time paid administrator. FISH stands for
Fellowship in Serving Humanity, something at which the Pennridge community excels.
